I grew up outside of St. Louis, Missouri, and have been an adopted resident of Sauk Prairie since 2005.  It's not to hard to fall head over heels in love with this area between the unforgettable natural features of our landscape and a history that is one amazing story after another. Being involved with the Sauk Prairie Area Historical Society is invigorating. We laugh and we strategize and we really think things through. We aren't stuffy or take ourselves too seriously, but we seriously get down to the business of what it means to take care of what we've been given-the stories to share and the artifacts to preserve-and what we need to do to make every member of the community feel as welcomed by and passionate about the SPAHS as we do. To me, we're much more than just a historical society.  We are a natural and cultural museum.  We are hands-on and open to questions.  Every time I visit the Tripp or Salem-Ragatz or Loretto I gain something useful to take back with me into my everyday life.
